Calendula has been becoming a popular skincare ingredient lately it may sound a little exotic to your ears but Calendula also goes by the name of Pot Marigold
I am really digging into the minimal ingredients trend (I apologize if it sounds offending ''trend'' but a lot of brands are becoming environmental conscious these days and trying to lower carbon footprint and waste to as mimimum ss possible which is a good thing) Isn't it great when brands cut down all the unnecessary fillers, paraben, preservatives from the ingredient list and bring it down to essential only. I was thrilled when I saw that there were only 8 ingredients listed on the packaging and most of them were oil save for last ingredient sorbitan sesquioleate which is surfactant by nature
Ingredients: Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Canola Oil, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, Sorbeth-30 Tetraoleate, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, Cananga Odorata Flower Oil, Sorbitan Sesquioleate
Starting with the packaging its a sturdy plastic bottle which has a pump mechanism and a prominent nozzle (on top). I prefer pump applicators when it comes to oil because they reduce mess and make application easy.
This oil cleanser resembles cannola oil in terms of color and viscosity. It feels pretty much like any regular oil and smells like sunflower (its mild and nice)
On regular days I use micellar water to remove makeup but when I have sunscreen on or waterproof makeup I opt for oil cleasing as it dissovles all the oil based compounds nicely and removes on emulsifying with water.
The oil is very emolient and is easy to massage with. It doesn't completely rinse off with water alone ( I could feel a little residual oil film on my face which is great if you have dry skin) personally I like to double cleanse so following up with a foam cleanser is a must for me n I have noticed that the oil completely washes off with a foam cleanser
In terms of cleansing I really enjoyed this product. The packaging is very practical, the oil removes all of the makeup without tugging or scratching. The massage improves circulation to face and dislodges grit and any sebum that might be lurking in the pores.
This rather big bottle will last me a really long time as I need only one pump for my face but I do see my self repurchasing this again when I run out.
I recommend you all to try this as its inexpensive, environmental friendly and skin friendly cleansing oil which does not strip moisture from the skin
